Bluebeam on a Mac: your options in 2026
If your team works on Macs, Bluebeam takes some planning. Here are the three realistic paths, and what each one asks of you.

What happened to Revu for Mac
Revu for Mac reached end of life in 2023. Revu today is a Windows desktop application, which leaves Mac users three realistic options.
Option 1: Run Revu in Parallels
Bluebeam documents running Revu on a Mac through Parallels, which runs Windows in a virtual machine next to macOS. You get the full Windows version of Revu, with whatever your Revu plan includes.
The cost is everything around it: a Windows license and a Parallels license for each Mac, on top of the Revu plan, and a virtual machine that someone has to install and keep up to date.
Option 2: Bluebeam on web and mobile
Bluebeam also offers a lighter Bluebeam on web and mobile. Before you standardize on it, list the Revu tools your team uses every day and confirm each one is there.
Option 3: A markup tool that runs in the browser
Vellum runs entirely in the browser, so the same workspace opens on a Mac, a Windows PC, or an iPad with nothing to install, and Apple Pencil works for annotation on iPad.
- Markups snap to the linework in your PDFs, and you measure to a calibrated scale.
- CAD-style editing: offset, trim, extend, mirror, and fillet, with typed lengths and angles.
- Real-time collaboration by link, included in Pro.
- Standard PDF export, flattened or with editable annotations, so colleagues on Windows can open your markups in Revu.
- Direct DXF export back to CAD.
How to decide
- Heavy quantity takeoff and estimating: Revu's dedicated takeoff tools are strong, so Parallels may be worth the overhead for those seats.
- Review, redlines, measurement, and drafting on drawings: a browser tool avoids the virtual machine entirely.
- Mixed teams: exchange standard PDFs, and each person uses the tool that fits their machine.
- Budget: compare the full cost per seat, including Windows and Parallels, not only the software plan.
Questions
- Does Bluebeam Revu run on a Mac?
- Not natively. Revu for Mac reached end of life in 2023, and Revu today is a Windows desktop application. Bluebeam documents running it on a Mac through Parallels, and offers a lighter Bluebeam on web and mobile.
- Can my Mac team share markups with colleagues who use Revu on Windows?
- Yes. Vellum exports standard PDFs, flattened or with editable annotations, so markups made on a Mac open in Revu, Acrobat, and other common PDF viewers.
- Does Vellum work on an iPad?
- Yes. Vellum runs in the browser on iPad, and Apple Pencil works for annotation.
